I Thessalonians 1:1-10
I Thessalonians 1:1-10
1Paul, and Timothy,
To the church of the Thessalonians in God the
Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
Grace and peace to you.
Thanksgiving for the Thessalonians’ Faith
2We always thank God for all of you and
continually mention you in our prayers. 3We
remember before our God and Father your
work produced by faith, your labor prompted
by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in
our Lord Jesus Christ.
4For we know, brothers and sisters loved by
God, that he has chosen you, 5because our
gospel came to you not simply with words but
also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep
conviction. You know how we lived among you
for your sake. 6You became imitators of us and
of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in
the midst of severe suffering with the joy given
by the Holy Spirit. 7And so you became a model
to all the believers in Macedonia and
Achaia. 8The Lord’s message rang out from you
not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith
in God has become known everywhere.
Therefore we do not need to say anything about
it, 9for they themselves report what kind of
the reception you gave us. They tell how you turned
to God from idols to serve the living and true
God, 10and to wait for his Son from heaven,
whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who
rescues us from the coming wrath.
1 Timothy 6:6
“Godliness with contentment is
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control. Against such things
there is no law.”
Acts 16:25 NIV
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying
and singing hymns to God, and the other
prisoners were listening to them.”
“[The Jewish leaders] called the apostles in and
had them flogged. Then they ordered them not
to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.”
“The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing
because they had been counted worthy of
suffering disgrace for the Name.”
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever
you face trials of many kinds, because you know
that the testing of your faith produces
perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work
so that you may be mature and complete, not
1Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lordbeen
2He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to
nothing in his appearance that we should desire
3He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on
and by his wounds we are healed.
6We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lordhas laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
Because HE Lives
